This may sound stupid, but where is this person from? I'm from MD and we call all athletic shoes tennis shoes. Now when I say sneakers to my family, they're like what?

To me though, tennis shoes means white. Something plain, nothing with crazy colors. That's just my 2 cents.

I love KEDS!!!! I got tired of heavy, uncomfortable, walking shoes from Lady Footlocker!!! I remember as a child, going to our local grocery store, who also sold shoes, and getting my new KEDS for summer!!! So comfy!!! And I'd change the color every yr. Red, Navy, or white!!! Ahhh, shoe memories!!!!  Mary

I live in FL and everyone calls sneakers tennis shoes...all kinds! People look at me oddly when I say sneakers. It's weird!

Tennis shoes and sneakers are the same.
Tennis shoes per se have an unmarked sole. White or single color.

Knew it LOL... my aunt is southern (from georgia) and she always calls them tennis shoes. First time I heard it I was 12 and I thought they were special shoes for playing tennis... wow, can you tell im from Ny hahha... anyway, so yea sneakers. I would keep them white or low key though.

I agree. Tennis shoes means sneakers.
Yup, they say the same thing out here in CA. I refuse to conform, I still call them sneakers!
