Just ordered HBO...
Getting ready for the new season of True Blood….want to catch up on some of last seasons episodes 
I just heard about a new show on called A GAME OF THRONES...anyone watch it or hear about it? Is it based on a book?

DH dragged me kicking and screaming into watching Game of Thrones. I actually like it. I have no idea about the background though.
It is gory and has zombies which is not my favorite so that is why I didn't want to watch. But I love the areas they filmed and the story so far. I will probably keep watching for a while before I make my final decision.

My DH loooooooooves that show and loves the books. In fact, his dad finally gave me back the first book so I can read it and then watch the show. lol!

NO! It isn't just zombies. Not at all. But they are there in the first episode. They weren't in 2 or 3, but in the previews it says they are coming back. I have NO idea how much they play a part. Just wanted to clarify it wasn't ALL zombies.

NO! It isn't just zombies. Not at all. But they are there in the first episode. They weren't in 2 or 3, but in the previews it says they are coming back. I have NO idea how much they play a part. Just wanted to clarify it wasn't ALL zombies.
The show (and books) has pretty much nothing to do with zombies. The minor thing that was shown in the first episode is pretty much it for a while. like 2% of the show will even focus on it..
just to clarify that 
think more of medieval knights, kings and queens and power struggles..

Game of Thrones is a little like Lord of the Rings, based on (I believe) a trilogy of books. It's good, but a little violent.

I found the first Game of Thrones a little difficult to follow - there were a lot of plot changes and I wasn't following so closely either, which probably didn't help. LOL.

We ordered HBO for the next couple months just to see Game of Thrones! DH is a huge fantasy reader and got me into the books.

That's what my DH said. He's read the series and he said that beginning part with the "white walkers" is pretty much as far as that story line has gone so far. Maybe they'll pop up again in the next book, due in July.
I started watching the show with him and I'm inspired to read the books.

I started watching the show with him and I'm inspired to read the books.
The books are amazing - i started reading Game of Thrones in JAnuary to prep for the show (at a friends insistence) and got completely hooked. I'm soooo excited for this show!
The white walkers definitely do pop up again, but not until the 3rd and 4th book
it's a 7 book series btw and he's only just coming out with book 5 in July!

First off, SOOOO excited about True Blood coming back
I was bored and surfing through my HBO on Demand when I saw Game of Thrones on it. I decided to give it a try without knowing anything about it and I have to say, I got hooked! So far it's been really good. I had no idea it was based on books so I think I may go back and read them now.

Game of Thrones if AWESOME! BUT, you need to be into that kind of show (kings, queens, power, war, SEX  )
