Help needed please!
My DD is 6 wks old. The past couple of days she has been crying inconsolably. All she wants to do is be on my breast. She is not really eating, just suckling. She falls asleep and when i try and put her down, she wakes up and is screaming until I put her back to the breast. She is also spitting up a lot after eating, which only started recently too. She won't take a pacifier.
Is this normal? Is she sick?
I hate seeing her so upset  but I haven't been able to do anything other than have her attached to my breast for days.

I would call your ped. Sounds like reflux. Maybe even a milk allergy.

Do you burp her after each feeding? The screaming could be pain from either reflux or gas. If you put your fingers on her belly do feel bubbles? If you do, that's gas.
The spitting up could be either she is over eating, gas, reflux, etc.
How have her poops been? Have you seen blood in any of her diapers?

Thanks for your response. Silly question, but is it possible for her to be allergic to my breastmilk?

EBFd babies can have a milk allergy. Meaning they are allergic to the dairy you are eating. It is common for EBFd babies with milk allergies to have blood in their stool.

I try to burp her after each feeding but she doesn't burp often. Maybe I'm not burping her correctly but she rarely does. I don't feel any bubbles on her belly but it is kind of distended.
I am still feeding on demand and my ped said that I couldn't overfeed at this age but I kind of feel like she is overeating with the amount of time that she is at my breast.
Her poops have been normal, no blood or anything unusual.

Could just be a growth spurt, or wanting mommy I remember DS was a big cluster feeder around that age. I think it subsided at about 8 weeks.

I agree, I would call the ped. DS was diagnosed with both at 6 weeks with the same symptoms 
As for the spitting up, I would try to keep her semi-upright at all times. That helped DS immediately with the spitting up & the pain from the reflux. Maybe you could try that and see if it helps until you get it figured out.

Not seeing any of those things although when she is crying she is kicking alot.
The spit up is coming up thick, almost curdled looking milk.
Are there specific things that I could be eating that she is having a bad reaction too? I wasn't told to limit anything that I am eating, except for keeping my caffeine down. I only have one cup of coffee a day, if that.

How do they diagnose a milk allergy?
She sleeps in the Rock N Play sleeper which is inclined. When she is eating, she is pretty horizontal. Should I try having her on an incline when she is eating also?

Thanks! I didn't have any caffeine while I was pregnant with her at all and have only recently started having a cup of regular coffee on some days. I guess I will have to go back to the decaf. Oh, the things we do for our children

My DS was on formula from the beginning so I didn't know that what I thought was his "normal" stool was actually mucous until there were bloody streaks... He was constantly fussy and just seemed very uncomfortable and turned up having the milk protein allergy ... Another girl at work had this prob too and was able to continue to ebf by just altering her diet (after consulting her ped of course!) ... Good luck hope she feels better soon :)

If you pick up a copy of Happy Baby, Healthy Sleep (or something like that...) it has a whole chapter on "the 6th week of life" and how the babies nervous system is going through a major change at this week of life and babies will most often act exactly how you are describing. According to the book it should last a few days to a week and then calm down again.
Also friends that have gone through it keep warning me about what happens when the baby is 6 weeks old.
My  is going on 3 weeks so I'm not there yet, but it sounds to me like that could be a contributing factor for your baby.
