I use both but if you are looking to change it up and tone your legs and butt, try walking on the treadmill at a high incline. I'm talking at least 12 and try to go up from there. You will get some results!

I prefer the elliptical over the treadmill. I do better interval training on the treadmill though. I wear a heartrate monitor and my HR doesn't really go over 153 on the elliptical whereas on the treadmill I get it up to 170.

i loathe the elliptical. for some reason i can't stand it. my DH loves it though. he has a bad knee and bad ankles so it's better for him. i prefer treadmill, but i'm also a runner so it's more practical for me.
