Moms of 2 or more- bedroom question

When your 2nd DC came along, did you keep the first DC's nursery as the permanent "nursery", moving the new baby into that room and the older one into a new room? Or did you keep DC1's nursery as their room and make a NEW nursery for the new baby?

ETS: I didn't mean to add the word "new" to the poll title lol.

DD is keeping her room. Since we are having a boy now, he will get his own room. If we were having a girl, they would have shared a room since DD's room is huge and DS's will be tiny.

Re: Moms of 2 or more- bedroom question

We already started plans to get Emmy into the bigger room before we got knocked up. The room she is going to is 10x12 and has a closet. The "nursery" is 9x9 no closet so for us it's a perfect nursery! If we end up having another girl then the girls will share the room Emmy has now and we'll make the nursery a play room for them so they can have something upstairs too. If we have a boy then we're screwedChat Icon

Moved DS into a big boy room and used his old room as the nursery, but we actually redid the nursery with a new theme for the new baby.

Re: Moms of 2 or more- bedroom question

We kept my oldest DD in her bedroom (what was the "nursery"). When I was pregnant with DD#2, we moved the baby furniture to our guest room, and that became #2's room.

I have to say, almost everyone I spoke to about this thought I was CRAZY to not keep the nursery the nursery and make oldest DD move to a new room. It was so strange how many people had that opinion and actually thought I was crazy for not doing that. I still don't get the uproar Chat Icon

To me, DD#1's room is HER room. She was 3 when baby was born, so she 1000% knew where her room was, etc...to make her move rooms just for the fact of moving rooms was so odd to me. I mean, the baby furniture fit perfectly fine in the guest room (new nursery), and all we had to do was move it.

Sorry to go off on a tangent Chat Icon it was just definitely an odd thing that happened to me last year. Chat Icon

ETA: To each their own, I certainly am not shocked & bewildered when people keep the nursery as the nursery. Chat Icon

Older DS is moving into new, bigger room and baby is going into nursery. I have two older step sons also and had my 2nd and DH's 4th been a definite from the beginning, we would have put DS in bigger room from the start.

we're making a new room...we're not even taking the furniture from DD. She looooves her crib and I'm not in a rush to push her out of it, I don't want two kids not sleepingChat Icon
