Anyone's dc a excessive hitter?

DS is 19 months and this has been going on over a year. He hits and kicks everyone everywhere including kids and adults. I am at a loss on what to do. We do time outs and firm no's. Nothing works. Drs. keep saying it's normal but I don't think it is. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: Anyone's dc a excessive hitter?

my boy was like that.
i swear on his head, he hit me in the hospital the day after he was born...in the face.
my mother saw and I said, I guess it is normal?
she said none of her 7 ever did.

He hit me, a lot. hit random kids. hit the boy i watched. hit his friend.

at 18 mos, started biting.

at 2, woke up..this kid is a dream. would not hurt a fly. listens...is just really, really cool and chill.
so gentle with our baby.
the most cuddly, huggy 4yr old.

stay consistant. it is not okay to hit.
at 12 mos, if he hit, he was put into his room. i would pick him up and say we don't hit, it isn't nice.
close the door.
go in and ask are you ready to be nice?

we never did timeouts or anything...removing him from situation hurt his feelings the most.

i only wrote that he is good to let you know i have been there, wondered if he is going to ever stop...he did. we call him advanced. had his terrible 2's early.

good luck

I hate the phrase "it's normal".... but it is. Unless he gets into a fir of rage and you sense a bigger emotional issue, he will grow out of it
