Re: Pinkeye

if it is bacterial, 24 hours after antibiotics are given
if it is viral, up to 14 days

In my experience, with DS and friends kids, most doctors give the antibiotic drops regardless, although it won't 'treat' a viral infection.

Re: Pinkeye

ITA with what everyone said about 24 hours after you start the drops.

Just be on the lookout for swollen eyes, though. For both my DC, pink eye ALWAYS turns into an ear infection for them. Not sure why. But I can always tell because a couple of days after I start the drops, they wake up and 1 or both of their eyes are swollen, like someone punched them. And low and behold, take them back to the ped and it's an ear infection.... one that was not present 2 days earlier when I had them at the ped for the pink eye!

Re: Pinkeye

Just took DD to the doctor on Friday for pinkeye. She prescribed a cream for her because she thought it would be more difficult to get the drops in than cream. Her eye looked 90% better the next morning and the doctor said she would only be contagious for 24hrs after starting the meds.

Re: Pinkeye

Thanks everyone. She started drops yesterday but I kept her home today just in case. I think we will cancel swimming tomorrow, but other than that get back on schedule.

My ped said 24 hours too.

Now I think I have it!
