My heart and prayers go out to the person who was hurting so much they jumped in front of a train 
I was going to say something like this but your words are more elequoent than mine were going to be.
and of course my thoughts go out to your hubby (and anyone else) who witnessed this.

That's awful and soo sad.....
They just said in Channel 12 that the service was suspended this morning because a train hit a pedestrian. They said pedestrian is still alive and no further details were released yet.

I am sorry your DH had to witness that- this brings back alot of bad memeories for me
4 of my friends were killed by the Train in Stony Brook- ( I'm sure some of you might remember the story) about 12- 13 years ago
2 boys were hit by accident crossing the tracks
then 2 girls in my grade killed themselves by lying down on the tracks
to this day I get very creeped out when I hear the train whistle
I remember the story about the girls.... So sad.

He's at work...but he said he's shaking. I asked him if it was possible that the man fell in; he said no way...the guy looked like he was diving into a pool, and Dan saw the train run him over...then he said the guy looked bent in two but was still moving. OMG...
I can't even imagine- you poor husband.

He was standing on the platform for the 6:05 (i think it's 6:05) and a man just jumped right in front of him and threw himself into the tracks. I told him to come home...he sounds like he's going to cry....I'm kind of in shock myself. He said the cops just got there now....he said the girl standing next to him is like, screaming and crying....he just told me he's going to drive to work. He said he can see the man moving around down there....I wonder if he'll make it??? OMG.......

He should definitely talk to someone. You may want to contact the LIRR itself -- maybe they have someone they can recommend since things like this affect the conductors / employees as well?
