Amazon SUCKS!!!!(Update-I called them)
They did it to me again!
I just went to walk out the front door with Peyton and sitting there on my front stoop is HER big Christmas Present (A Dollhouse)In a 2 foot by 2 foot box with a giant pic of is covering the whole box.
They did this to me once before and I specifically wrote in the shipping directions, DO NOT DELIVER IN ORIGINAL BOX***THIS IS A GIFT!!!!!
A$$HOLES!!!!!!!
ETA: The UPS guy never knocked or rang the bell so I had ZERO warning
**UPDATE**
So, i called and they admitted right away that it was an error and I had selected that it was a gift and it should not have shown up in the original box.
They gave me a $30 credit which is better than nothing, but it still does not change anything really. They were very nice though.
In the future all big items will be going to my parents because obviously you can not trust that they will be wrapped. OH WELL.

I am so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That stinks!
Before DH and I were living together, he passed by my house and on my FRONT LAWN was a giant box of this gaming chair I ordered. He picked it up, put it in my garage and then called me to gloat about it - I was livid!

sorry it does suck but its kinda funny
I hate shopping for my hubby. Its the WORST but I always deliever to my office. When I was home (unemployed or maternity leave) I had it delivered to a friend's house

Can't really blame them though, that's how they save you money on shipping. If they had to double box everything, we'd all be stuck paying more.

Sorry that happened. we are lucky in that we have an awesome UPS guy and he knows to deliver the packages around the side of the house and then knocks on the door to alert me in "code".
In amazon's defense they probably dont read the small messages as they have 10000's of orders shipping out.

I didnt even know you had the option to not ship in its original packaging. As far as I know, you have to check the "its a gift" box at checkout and they will gift wrap it, but not for oversized items. Thats a bummer, sorry!!!
This is why I ship to my parents now, bc Ive had that happen before too, it stinks!

I would of totally played it up in front of DD...Santa left a Gift early for you because it couldnt fit in his sled with all the other presents..lol...Sorry this happened to you that stinks! Was you DD excited when she saw it at least??

Call them! They do not suck when they give you the item for free, because of mishaps like this.
They are in desperate competition with diapers.com, mention that next time you will only be buying from diapers.com and have already told the largest parenting forum on the northeast to avoid buying gifts on amazon.
And come back and tell us what they did for you.

I just bought a piano for my daughter moments ago on Amazon and it said "if this is a gift, please check off that option at checkout. This is an item that is shipped revealing it's contents" (or something like that, I shouldn't have used quotes"
Anyway, I figured it meant that if you check gift, they will ship it in another box. If you don't they will slap a sticker on it and ship it as is.

hmmm..that is weird...I dont think i have EVER gotten a package in its original packaging..always in the brown box that says amazon on it! and I order on them a lot!

I did select the Its s gift box This is why I am so mad. If they would have told me that it was too big for that option, I would have sent it to my parents house.
I checked the box AND wrote it in the special instructions

I did check that box!!! My item did not say that it will come in box that may reveal its contents, but I learned from past experience.

The big stuff always ships in it's original box. UPS doesn't accept wrapped items and chances are they don't have boxes at Amazon large enough for that large stuff. It usually says on their site if it's shipped in original packaging. The gift option is ONLY so the recipient doesn't get a copy of the receipt showing how much you paid. It's nice they compensated you though.
Also, if it's a gift, amazon does NOT gift wrap it if that is what anyone is expecting. We get gifts all the time and they are not wrapped. They are without the receipt.

I was told that THEY made a mistake and this package(2ft X 2ft) should have been put in an unmarked box. On this particular item, I was told by Amazon, the box stating "This is a gift" is meant for this reason!
