Vascular Cervix-Pap smear and spotting (TMI)

So, I had my 8 Week sono well they said I was 8 weeks and 4 days on Wednesday night when I went for my exam. She gave me a pap and a culture. I was bleeding. She said that my cervix is vascular due to the pregnancy. She told me I may spot for the next couple of days, as long as it isn't bright red and I'm not cramping it will be okay.

So, I've been spotting since yesterday morning (The morning after the exam) It has been black, dark brown, hard and mucusy.. (SOrry this is so gross). I did see what looked like a bit of regular blood once when I peed. Anyway, it's really scary and annoying. I keep wondering if I'm okay! I'm afraid that getting the pap done was harmful to th ebaby. Does that sound dumb?

Has anyone else had a pap and a culture done and had this happen to them? If so how long did it last for? I'm just so scared, and I won't have another sono for 4 more weeks.

I had a pap done at my 8 wk appt too. My OB warned me I may see light spotting but it shouldnt be red or a flow. Luckily I had very minimal spotting the next morning.

I'm not sure what a vascular cervix is, but it sounds to me that what you are seeing is probably due to the pap irritating your cervix. Either way, my vote is to just call your OB and tell her exactly what you wrote here and see if she will let you come in for peace of mind.

Yes and it scared the be-jesus out of me! It was dark and dry blood and lasted about 36 hours. For me though it didn't start until 2 days after the PAP. No cramps. All is well in the world at almost 13 weeks....but I know how scary it feels!
