sorry another prenatal question..

so i just went to the pharmacy just to see how much the prenatal scrip she gave me would be..dh insurance we have to pay up front then get it back..

so for 100 pills its 230 bucks..

how much are the target ones..and for how many pills..

im trying to figure if its better to just buy those if they r super cheap or just pay the 230 and wait 6 weeks to get it back

Re: sorry another prenatal question..

ive been taking OTC it was $8.99 for a 60 softgels. Natures Bounty Your Life Prenatals (200 mg of DHA & 900 mcg of Folic Acid)...

Id find out what the difference is between the OTC and scrip pills first... cause that is an insance price difference!

I would ask the pharmacist if there is a difference... or call your insurance comapny and ask if there is a comparable OTC ...

i know... let me know if you find out... cause i would rather stick with my OTC when the time comes... and it would make me feel better to know there isnt a difference between $8.99 and $230

Re: sorry another prenatal question..

Ive been taking OTC prenatals from Rite Aid since before I became pregnant....a bottle of 250 cost me $20 --- my OB says as long as they dont make me sick or constipated they're fine.

Re: sorry another prenatal question..

Gina....
I have this issue too...

they won't reimburse the prenatals because our insurance doesn't cover vitamins.

I'm actually going to sign back up for my work insurance in about 4 weeks or so..... this way I am double covered for everything. there's some great points to the DH's insurance ... but also some not so great.

I have a rx for DHA prenatals.... I don't think they are as expensive as the ones your rx is for. I recently had a rx bill of about 800 to lay out and wait to be reimbursed for!! hence why I'm getting my old insurance back...

Re: sorry another prenatal question..

I was taking prescription prenatals at first because my friend worked in an obgyn office and brought me home a bunch of samples. Im now taking over the counter ones from Target because I refuse to pay for the prescription ones. Im taking Nature Made prenatal multi + DHA. Its one BIG pill.. My ob said as long as there is folic acid and DHA in them that they are fien to take.

Re: sorry another prenatal question..

Ok so I went back to the pharmacy and asked what is the diff between what the doc gave me and the otc ones...the pharmacist says..they r not the same at all..these have more vitamins......I didn't know what that meant lol so I'm going to just call the doc and ask her what's the diff and if I can take the otc

Re: sorry another prenatal question..

That is a lot of money. My doctor told me that regular multi vitamins are fine when ttc so I bought cvs brand prenatals just in case. I would use otc until you get pg.
