I really need a new digital camera
Something reliable, lightweight, that also takes videos.
My previous one, Sony CyberShot, has finally died after threatening to do it ever since we got it a year ago. 
Can you please recommend if you have something that you love?

I had the Cyber shot too and wasn't really happy with it all these years. We just got the Canon Powershot with HD video. Haven't gotten the chance to use it too much yet, but so far I can tell a huge difference in the quality compared to the cybershot.

I mainly use my Nikon D50 (DSLR) but I recently got a new point and shoot for my bag that I love! It's a Nikon Coolpix S8000. It has an incredible zoom for such a small camera. It was about $250.

we just got a new point and shoot - Nikon coolpix S4000 and we absolutely LOVE it! Picture quality is great, video is HD =great. It's very thin and lightweight. Plus it also has touchscreen option which I find very cool 
oh and price is good too around 200
P.S. We got Canon powershot first bc it got such great reviews (don't remember which one) and hated it, picture quality was horrible, very blurry and video was not so good either. so we returned it and got the Nikon one.

If you're looking for a higher end camera that kind of bridges the gap between a point 'n shoot and a DSLR, you might want to consider the Canon G11. It can shoot fully auto to complete manual, you can shoot video, and I like to shoot RAW + JPEG so I can show off my JPEGs right away and work on any really good shots in Photoshop later using the RAW images.
The G11 uses manual controls rather than touch screens for speed of use. It's faster to flip a dial than it is to work through menus. If you find you use certain settings a lot, like to shoot a soccer game, you can create a custom setting just for that.
When I don't take my Nikon D3, I'm still consistently happy with the shots I get form my Canon G11.

I have a Canon Powershot...it takes HD video and is 14.7 mpxls. I've had it for like 2 and 1/2 years. LOVE IT!
