We had a co-op in Huntington Village. It took a few days to sell. That being said, we knew we wouldn't have a problem because we were always getting phone calls to sell from real estate agents. People were always looking to buy them.

We sold a 1 bedroom in bayside. We had it listed on our own for 6 months and I think we listed way too high. We hired an agent after 6 months because we were so tired of holding open houses. We lowered the price and she had the place sold within a week. If you're in a desirable area and price it correctly you should be fine.

Sold a 1 bedroom in Bayside in May. Was on the market for ~ 2 months. Ended up really lucking out with an all cash deal so we sold for higher than the comps we saw b/c there was no bank, appraisal and mortgage company involved.

Our story is a nightmare.

We have been trying to sell our NYC apartment for the past 1 1/2 yrs. Yup, 4 price reductions, completely renovated, fair price and 2 failed offers ( b/c of co-op and bank) and still on the market. NYC market is just terrible though for 1 bedrooms ( way too much inventory) & too many desperate sellers.

Goodluck! I think LI is a lot better right now for Co-ops!

I know 3 people who sold /are selling their coops in Howard Beach,NY . One took 8 months, the other one took 6 months (both 2br 2 bth) and one is in contract now after being on the market for over 2yrs , this one is 2br 1bth. I guess it depends one the area and the size of the apt.
OH and my former boss just sold her 3br 1bth coop in LI (somewhere near Stonybrook, can't remember exactly where) it was on the market for 16 months but they sold it close to what they were asking for it , they wouldn't negotiate much.

It took us about 8 months to sell our 1 BR in Glen Oaks. We didn't get what we wanted for it.. but were happy to get rid of it.

Re: If youve sold a co-op in the last 2 yrs...

We sold our condo in Ronkonkoma last year. We sold it in 2 months, but we priced it lower than any in our complex, though it was completely updated and larger than some. We took a pretty big loss from what we bought for 5 years earlier, but obviously got a better deal on a house. We were anxious to sell.
