If so did you have a pleasant experience. Were the professors helpful, were the class schedules a nightmare or pretty abundant. Is it hard to get accepted. Any help would be appreciated about the program . I do not have a BA in education and am trying to figure out which school would be the best for me. I am thinking between Queens and Brooklyn college. I notice Queens college has a post Ba program for those without and education degree but it seems as if I would be taking an exccesive amount of credits. just need input from others who have done it before or are already in the process. Thanks

My BS was not in education either..I did the career change program at St.Johns and received my masters in special ed as well as a certification in sped and general ed...it was a great program..I really enjoyed it...I was part of a grant so the state payed for the majority of the tuition...it was well worth it. Good luck!!

I also did not have my undergrad in Education. I went to Adelphi University in Long Island and received my MA in Childhood Education and my advanced certificate in Special Education. I LOVED the program. I looked into Queens college, the only thing that I didnt like about them (i loveeddd the low tuition) was that they wouldnt let me finish the program quickly. I was only allow to take a certain amount of credits each semester (the program would have taken atleast 2 years to complete). Since I was a career changer, and quiet my job completely, I wanted to take as many credits as possible. I finished the entire program at Adelphi within one year (including summer session) and got a job right away. So although the tuition at Adelphi was a lot more expensive, I was able to finish quickly and not work for only 1 year. I loved all the professors and had great relationships with them. I still talk with many of them, even 2 years after completely the program. I want to now get my certificate in early childhood, and will definitely be looking to go back to Adelphi.
