Other activities near Dutch Wonderland...

besides Hershey Park? We are planning to go in August with my 3 year old & have heard that Hershey is a waste for his age. So 1 day in Dutch Wonderland & then what? Should we go back the next day (assuming he likes it) or is there something else you guys suggest? TIA

Re: Other activities near Dutch Wonderland...

Really? Because someone on here just wrote a review about how great Hershey was and her son is alittle younger than our boys.

I do know that she mentioned the Crayola place. Want me to try to bump the post?

There are a lot of kiddie rides at Hershey. A 3 year old would love it. There is also the Strasburg Railroad and Cherry Crest Adventure Farm.

Re: Other activities near Dutch Wonderland...

We wanted to do Crayloa but its about 90 minutes from Dutch Wonderland I read.

We are doing the 3 hour before closing of Dutch Wonderland, then the next day. We are doing a miniture train musuem and the hands on house ( will put the links below) and then the Starsburg Railroad train ride, and then Kettle Kitchen ( cute area with stores and childrens activities, small petting zoo etc) ...

And then there's always the outlets Chat Icon

And you could do amish country too and do a horse drawn carriage ride...Theres some caverns around there as well....and a TON of things like mini golf, stores etc.

CHoo Choo Barn

Hands on House

Thomas Trackside Station

National Toy Train Musuem

Strasburg Railroad

National Christmas Center

Kitchen Kettle Village

Re: Other activities near Dutch Wonderland...

We went earlier this week. We also did:

Abe's Buggy Rides which the kids LOVED. DS wants to get a horse and buggy to keep in the backyard. Chat Icon

Hands On House Children's Museum

After the Starsburg RR we did The Amish Village on the way back to the hotel which had animals and different buggys the kids could sit in which they liked.

Indian Echo Caverns which is right outside Hershey.

After that we did Zoo America at Hershey Park since we didn't really want to do Hershey or Chocolate World. DS has a severe dairy allergy and it seemed cruel to go somewhere he couldn't really enjoy what was unique about it. Anyway, it's a small zoo, takes about an hour or two to walk through. Was nice, and by that time the kids were ready to head back to the hotel and swim for a bit.

On the way home to LI we did The Crayola Factory which was lots of fun.

We wanted to go to a Barnstormers game but they were here playing the Ducks and then Newark while we were there.

Is crayola on the way home from DW? I thought it was more north, am I wrong? I REALLY wanna go there.

Eta- How long did you go for?

Were going for 4 days, 3 nights, was wondering if we should do another day.

It is more north, but I didn't think it was crazy out of the way. It was supposed to be about 90 mins but took more like 2.5 hours b/c they PA DOT was painting the lines on the highway and it kept going to only 1 lane. That also happened the day we were going to see Thomas and we almost missed our train. Chat Icon

We went for 5 days, 4 nights.
