My Little Girl is FINALLY here!
Laila Apple was born June 1. 8lbs 13oz and 20in! I could not be more in love and more excited to have this precious little being! She is such an amazing baby.
I went in on Monday for a scheduled induction at 6pm. They gave me a sonogram in the triage room as they admitted me and said baby looked good and was measuring about 7lbs. The nurse looked at my belly and felt it and was like, "Oh no. This is at least an 8lb baby!" They brought me to an L&D room and by the time I was all set up it was about 7:30pm. They hooked me and baby up to the monitors and low and behold, I was having contractions every 3-5 minutes! (I was still only 2cm and 50% effaced at this point). So they couldn't administer the cervadil because contractions were too consistent. They kept me hooked up and watched me for about 1 1/2 hours. Baby was moving like CRAZY and kept kicking off and just being a little ham. They checked me again and I was 3-4cm and 50%. The on call Dr. made the call that no induction would happen. They checked me every 2 hours and I was dilating about 1cm each time. Contractions started getting intense around 4am. I decided to get the epidural but was sooooooo nervous I was shaking but was told it was due to labor and not to worry. I got the epi (which is not even a small percentage as bad as I thought it would be) and was numb! DH and I were hysterical laughing. I got some sleep after that and woke about 6am. Still dilating and still contracting. At 7am my water broke just as my OB walked in. Things really started to progress but then stopped at around 10am. I was 9cm and 100% effaced but baby wasn't moving down. I was given a small dose of pitocin (and 3 additional doses of the epidural from the original time till I was ready to push) By 1:40pm I was ready to push and I thought I would just die! I was hysterical crying the entire time. Out of frustration and fear that I wouldn't be able to do it because I was so numb and then out of pure joy as my little girl was brought into the world at 2:13pm.
