I'm on bedrest
Just got back from the doctor. Apparently my cervix has shortened since my last appointment and it's in the lower range of where it is supposed to be. So, I am on strict bedrest for a full week, then I go back to see the doctor. Everything is great with the baby, but I'm just so bummed about the bedrest and I'm nervous that my cervix will shorten even more. Anyone have any experience with this?

I had w/ my first pregnancy. I was very strict w the bedrest and was totally fine the following week

it happened to me at 19 weeks, we watched it for a week and it shortened more to below borderline so had to have cerlclage done. I was on modified bedrest for a month after cerclage. I felt i could have went back 2 weeks after but dr wanted me to be home and i was getting full pay so didn't argue. 27 1/2 weeks now still going strong, working, no issues with cervix since cerclage

Thanks. I am just concerned bc she said the cerclage is not an option now. I am 24 weeks. I am hoping the bedrest helps.

A good friend of mine had a shortened cervix throughout a good portion of her pregnancy. She was on bedrest for a while, but her baby girl was born healthy and only slightly early.

please please please stay on bedrest if ordered to... its so important! I had same thing last preg..this preg i had cerclage n 30 weeks still no bedrest! but the bedrest is so worth it!

This happened when i was pregnant with DS
I was 100% effaced at 31 weeks; went on bedrest until 34 weeks and DS was born at 37 weeks

This happened with my 1st pregnancy. It began shortening at 16 wks, and I was put on strict bedrest - bathroom only. A week later it grew a little bit, but I remained on bedrest until 28 wks. After that, I was on modified bedrest until 33 wks, and then just cautious with my activities ( no exercise, sex, etc.) I ended up needing to be induced, so the bedrest worked lol.
So far, I'm. 23 wks into this pregnancy, and my cervix has been fine.
It's hard, but try and use the time to relax and get some rest. There are times now when I wish I was on bedrest so I could get some sleep.  Good luck!

hang in there - i know its not easy! i have been on strict bed rest for the past 16 weeks...i am 32 weeks now.
i was able to get a cerclage, but my cervix is still extremely short so i havent been able to do much.
where did your cervix measure last?
i hope that your cervix doesnt shorten much more and you will at least be on modified bed rest at most...

Thank you everyone. I am taking the bedrest seriously, I am just hoping it works! The doctor said my cervix was measuring at 2.6. She said ideally you should be between 3-5.

I've been dealing with this on/off since about week 19. I'm now at week 25 and have been back at a 30 since last week. We'll see what the results are next Monday
I've been thinking of taking up knitting/crocheting to fill the time..Left for Dead/Guitar Hero is not keeping my interest anymore

Anything can change in one week and remember you are doing this for the baby. Try to read some baby books and rest up.
This is my 5th week being on a bedrest and I am only 32 weeks pregnant. The beginning wasn't fun but now I try to plan my days ahead and it is not that bad. My cervix is 1.6...
