ultrascreen

I have my next appt. scheduled for 10/8, at which point I'll be 11w1d.

They haven't mentioned an ultrascreen, and it says it should be done btwn 11w1d and 13w6d...and my next appt wouldn't be for another month, which would be past the "deadline" -

my question is, does everyone get an ultrascreen? should i call and ask about it?

Re: ultrascreen

My doctor did not mention it to me or anyone else that I know who goes to him. However, my friends told me to inquire. I spoke with the nurse and she said that the doctor does not require it and it is optional b/c it is not done in the office. My sister who uses a different doctor also did not have the ultrascreen, but my other friend was encouraged to do so. So I guess each doctor is different, but needless to say, the script is in the mail!

Re: ultrascreen

My dr. told me at my 8w appt I would need to get one. She gave me a prescription because it needed to be done outside of the office.

I got my NT bloodwork done at my 16w visit.

Re: ultrascreen

We did not do the ultrascreen for my first pregnancy or this one.

I believe a lot of doctors tell women about it and make it sound like it is a test they have to take. But it is up to you if you want to have it done or not.

Re: ultrascreen

I am actually having my ultrascreen next week when I will be 11W 1day. I informed the nurse when my doc told her to schedule it, but she insisted on keeping it that date. So if I am even measuring one day behind, they will most likely make me come back...I'm not going to be happy about that. I am hoping all is good and they can get the measurements they need and I am right on target.

I was told that it would be about a half hour.

My doctor asked me if we wanted to have it done since its optional but she made it seem like why wouldn't we do it. I am scheduled for mine at 11w6d and my doctor told me where to call to schedule it since i think they use a special sonogram machine and i will go to the hospital to get it done. I think if you want it, you should ask and not just assume you will be having it at your next appointment just in case.
