I'm at my wit's end!!

I went into contact on my new place in May. It's now the end of August and I've been eligible to close as of August 21st, but now there is a delay from the seller because of a "title issue." My attorney has NOT been forthcoming at all about what is going on and I'm kind of in limbo not knowing when I will be able to close. Aside from e-mailing/calling my attorney and his paralegal to continually question what is happening - what else can I do?

I had a suggestion to e-mail the listing agent and ask her to pass along my telephone number to the seller so that he and I may communicate directly. I'm not sure if there is an ethics issue with this because we're all supposed to be working through our attorneys, but I suspect that the seller's atty is a BIG TIME IDIOT which is why all of these delays are taking place.

Does anyone have any advice at all? My rate is about to expire for a second time in September and I really don't want to have to pay to renew it if the delay in closing is not my fault! Chat Icon
