Anyone else hate charting?

I am trying to chart my cycle this month using BBT. I think after 6 days, I'm already giving up. I have a 2 year old, so I'm not waking up the same time every day; and when I do try to temp, the thermometer literally seems to take 5 minutes to get a reading. I can't lie there for 5 minutes while listening to DD in the monitor!

Is anyone else going through something similar? Is my thermometer just a bad one? Is it a waste of time if I'm not even temping at the same time each day?

I have a 2 year old who is potty training...there is not a week that goes by where I've gotten up at the same time 2 days in a row.

I actually like it because it shows me that my body is doing what it's supposed to. With PCOS, my RE wasn't even sure if I'd ovulate on my own and I actually have been so it's at least comforting every month when i see those red crosshairs. Otherwise it's like flying blind!

i actually really like it, but i don't have any children. i can see how tempting can be annoying when you know you're little one is waiting for u.

Charting was 100% accurate and perfect for me. I was an IFer whose RE wanted her to temp and chart for unmedicated IUIs (which truthfully do not increase chances of conception more than a percent or two). Temping and OPKs got me PG in 3/5 attempts. Sadly, temping also told me I was having a chemical pregnancy because I didn't put my BBT away and kept temping. I was a very light sleeper so it was hard, at times, to get the temping done at the same time every day. I did my best.

I did it for one month and loathed it. Every single day of it.

I did it the month that I got pregnant with my son. It confirmed that the OPKs were working for me. Now that it's been 7 cycles of trying this time around my OB wants me to temp again. I HATE IT. My son has been sick so it's been nearly impossible to get the 4+ hours sleep you need before you temp. I am only on day 3 and I don't see how I can do this for an entire month, if not more. I really think that this is why couples experiencing secondary infertility don't seek treatment! I am almost ready to throw in the towel and just be happy with the one child i have!
