Did Anyone See an RE even though your OB said to wait a few more months?

I am going to be taking Clomid for the second month starting in 3 days. Last month was a bust bc I was traveling on my peak days Chat Icon. I am taking it CD5-9 and I am not being monitored. After If I have to take it for the 3rd cycle and it still doesn't work, my OB said she would up the dosage.

Did anyone not wait for their OB and go see and RE on their own? We are both 15 and this is month 11 trying for DC#2.

How did you find your RE? Can you recommend any in Eastern Nassau?

Thanks!

i didnt wait to see my RE.. after my 2nd loss in a row i went on my own. and i knew my insurance didnt require referrals. my OB said there was no need for a RE.. but boy was he wrong! i am still going through IF treatments and still not PG.. he says i have unexplained IF. so i was happy i took the leap on my own.

you will know when the time is right, and if that is now, and you dont need referrals, i say go for it!

I didn't need referrals so I decided to go to the RE. It can't hurt....if u feel comfortable taking the next step.

I like the RE because I feel like they follow up a lot more with me and also monitor my cycles a lot more closely.

I go to LI-IVF...they have a location in Plainview and Lake Success too. I go to their office in Melville. Everyone is super friendly and helpful.

Good luck!!!

My dr. didn't say to wait a few months, but I took it upon myself to see and RE. I only went to the consult and never followed through with anything. I gues I thought I was, but mentally, I was not ready to see an RE. I walked out of the office crying. I am just not ready for that yet. He did do a sono and everything looked good and if this isn't our month, DH will do a SA and I will get an HSG and if all is OK, I will go with my dr. for as long as I see fit. I am not ruling the RE out by any means, but I like my dr and trust him so I want to work with him first.
Going on to the next level with an RE is a very personal choice and you have to do what you are comfortable with. Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I went to my RE after my OB said he wanted to try Clomid. I wanted a more regulated environment. If you feel as though you'll benefit more going to an RE don't hesitate, just go! Chat Icon

My RE was in the city but there are some great ones on LI.

Although my OB didn't think it was neccesary at the time, she did follow my wishes and after my CD3,21 bloodwork came back normal, she did reccomend a male fertility Dr. DH has had 2 SA and they have confrimed that we are in fact going to have a hard, not neccesarrily impossible, time getting preggo on our own. Which is very stressful for us since we had no problems the first time around. Bu tI knew after only a few months that something just couldn't be right. Follow your gut.

I went to an RE on my own after blood work at my regular doc came back PCOS. They didn't refer me to anyone and didn't even suggest I should go, but I wasn't happy with them and decided to go on my own. After reading numerous stories on the infertility board, I decided to try LI IVF. I saw Dr. Droesch and I loved her. If you don't need a referral and your insurance would cover it, go with your gut! I would like to add that my first doc tried medicating me himself and wound up with a way off dosage of clomid for me and I had to wait for all the cysts it caused to go down to start the next course of action with the RE.

if you feel you are ready for an RE than go see on. Obgyn's deal with a lot of women whether pregnant & not and most dont have the time to monitor. mine didnt & after 3 clomid cycles i went to an RE and it was the best move i ever did, the RE will do all the necessary tests right away so you can pinpoint what the issues are and take it from there.

I went did 3 cycles of clomid and then went to an RE on my own as my insurance did not require a referral. I didnt feel my GYN was being as assertive as I wanted to be.

Re: Did Anyone See an RE even though your OB said to wait a few more months?

I didn't even bother consulting with my ob/gyn. After about 8 months of really trying I just knew something was wrong, considering we conceived my first so easily in the first month of trying. Because I have PPO insurance I didn't need a referral so I just got a few recommendations and called and made an appointment with an RE. I'm SO glad I didn't wait any longer because we ended up trying for another year with the RE, and it ultimately took IVF to get pregnant with #2.
