DS still refusing Bottle - Help!

DS is 14 weeks and EBF.

Around 4 weeks we introduced a bottle so that I would be able to leave him when I have somewhere to go. He took to it fine.

About 3 weeks ago, he started refusing them and will NOT take it at all.

We have tried Playtex Drop Ins and Dr. Browns.

We have used different size nipples to see if it was the flow.

Also, I NEVER give him the bottle - only DH, my Mom, or MIL.

Regardless, he refuses.

Any suggestions? It's become inpossible for me to leave him.

Try a wider nipple-like Avent or Born free. Also they have bottles called Adiri-I couldn't get the hang of them but they totally mimic a breast-they have them at BRU. You can also wait until hes pretty hungry so he maybe won't care where its from you know?

I know you said you tried different sizes/flows but have you tried the latex nipples instead of the silicone one's? I know it make a difference with my DS. HTH

I had the same problem. I was using drop ins and the medela bottle. I tried the nuby natural flow, playtex breastflow and adiri. She seemed to like the nuby the best, and now uses that one. Also, I've heard that you should let others give the baby a bottle, because with you, the baby will just want to nurse. However, that did not work for me at all. DD would only eat from me for awhile. What I did was nurse her a little to get the immediate hunger out of the way, switch the bottle in very quickly and let her have that for awhile, and then go back to nursing. She slowly got the hang of it and now lets other people give her the bottle, but, she also started holding the bottle on her own very very quickly--the first week I was back at work, which was the first week she was bottle fed during the whole day. (Before then, it was 1 bottle per day.) Now she takes about 3 bottles while I am at work, and nurses the rest of the time. She still likes nursing much much more, but doesn't refuse a bottle

Re: DS still refusing Bottle - Help!

Sadly, it took me going back to work and DD being without anything but a bottle for 8 hours a day to finally *get* her to take them. The first week I was back, she'd drink a total of MAYBE 4 oz in the total time I was gone- and that was a struggle.

One day, I came home to a VERY relieved DH. She drank THREE bottles totaling 5 oz each in that 8 hour span.

To this day, it's still a struggle to get her to take bottles, especially if "the tap" is around.

ETA: We tried all types of nipples and found the Avent ones were the ones she preferred.

Thanks for the replies ladies!

I guess we will have to continue our search for a bottle he likes.

I am SAHM so I end up nursing him all the time, but I can't go anywhere like this....
