Peditricians in Huntington Area
Hi Everyone!
I am PG with my first child, due in July. I need to choose a ped. soon and have gotten a few referrals from people that I work with. I would be open to hearing your thoughts on the below doctors/groups and hear about any other recommendations you may have. Idealy, the doctor/group would be in Greenlawn, East Northport or Huntington area.
Huntington Medical Group:
Dr. Siev or Dr. McDonagh
Northport Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine:
Dr. Moerck, Dr. Gabrielli, or Dr. Gunduz
North Shore Medical Group in Huntington:
Dr. Prushik
TIA!!!! Also, this whole deal of "interviewing" doctors--- I feel a bit intimidated by that...did anyone NOT do so and fine with your decision of the doctor you chose?

HMG here - my cousin uses McDonogh - I personally don't like Siev's personality but I hear he is a good doctor - I'm a Cavanagh gal myself!  It's like a cult!!!!

Dr. Cavanaugh (HMG) cult member here as well.
I switched pediatricians twice. First time was because I felt the doctor was very arrogant & was condescending when he spoke to me. When I asked about the immunizations & delaying them, he seemed aggravating to even explain why I shouldn't be worried about news reports - but yet I had to initial for each shot that the risks were explained to me.  Anyway, he's not on your list so I won't go into it.
Second time, I liked the ped a lot (Dr. Anne Conrad, Centerport) but it wasn't covered by insurance.

We use Dr. Mcdonough(sp?) He is a wonderful person and doctor! I highly recommend him!

i was a patient of shineman when i was younger. my mom wasn't crazy for him though. :)

I did not pick a ped before birth. When I arrived at Huntington Hospital I told them to set me up with whoever was "one call" that took my insurance. I did this mainly b/c I don't live anywhere near Huntington Hospital and was planning on using waterspout4's ped in the long run.
Well, the hospital, at my OB's recommendation, hooked us up w/ Northport Pediatrics. In the hospital I saw all three - Dr. Gunduz, Dr. Gabrielli, and Dr. Moerk.
DD is now 17 months old, and I'm still driving 30-45 minutes to bring her to them. We LOVE them!

You should also vist Dr. Lee Kurfist in the Huntington (on East Main Street) area.
He is the only one I interviewed with when I was having my first. Other family members use him for their kids and that made me comforatable off the bat. Interviewing with him sealed it for me. He's a very patient, intelligent, straight to the point, does not rush you, listens to you and I just love how he says my son's name in Italian 
The nurses there are wonderful and the reception staff is very friendly.

We use Dr Gerberg of Huntington Pediatrics, love him! He's on High St in Huntington.

I really like Dr. Prushik because he always took his time with you and also answered your questions. I never felt rushed or that I asked a silly question.
The big plus for me...They have a lab on premises so when we had to do bloodwork, I just had to walk down the hall.

Another Dr. Prushik here. My girls love him. Like the PP mentioned he really takes the time with you and absolutely NEVER rushes you. He's a parent of young children as well so he understands the concerns you have.
When he's not there, I prefer to see Dr. Yland and then Dr. Brunner. However, Dr. Prushik is by far my favorite.
