If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

What is your reasoning or thought process? Were you not happy with the treatment plan, the doctors, the office, the results?

I really like our RE- I feel like she really understands our issues and is working within their limitations, but I'm not sure that she's being aggressive enough. Granted, its only been 2 IUI's, maybe I just need to give it some more time?

Re: If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

I'm actually similar to you and am now considering changing - but we're on iui#4. Mine is very calm - which I like, but I wonder if he's missing somethings - who knows? So, I have another consultation with another dr. set up - but it doesn't mean I'm definitely switching. I don't think it hurts to go for another consultation - I feel ike if there's a reason why you're wondering about it, then maybe it is good time for a switch. Good luck to you either way!

Re: If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

Well, I changed because my RE and OB were in complete disagreement about my treatment so I went to Dr. B for a 2nd (well, really 3rd) opinion. I liked him so much and he tested for things that the other two and found the answers, so I switched to him.

Re: If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

I did quite a few IUI cycles with my first RE. When they didn't work and I requested additional testing and/or started questioning the agressiveness, I decided to consult with another RE.
I went to two different RE's and liked one much better than the other so I switched to him. After approx. 6 months with him and still no success, I consulted with 3 more RE's - this time, though, noone really had any other options - so I stayed with the second RE and ended up getting PG the next month.
IMO, if you feel stagnant with your current RE - get another opinion. It can't hurt and if they have no other options you can stay with your current RE unless you really feel at odds with him/her.

Good luck!!

Re: If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

I had switched because one of the NP in the first office I felt wasn't listening and answering my questions.....I kept asking and she would tell me everything is fine don't worry.

that wasn't good for me, I needed to understand the treatment and how they knew I was actually O'ing, etc. so I switched (and got lucky BFP on the first cycle at the new office) I know that was just luck but I felt the new office took the time to address my concerns and make me more comfortable.

Re: If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

I have switched twice. The first RE was OK but not aggressive enough for me. I had just turned 39 when i got there. I knew I would need IVF and their stats for women my age were not good. So, I went to a NYC clinic that had good stats for women my age and I had a friend who was successful with them. They treated me great but after 2 failed IVF's I was looking to another place that maybe had something that the 2nd couldn't offer. So, I switched again to see if this new thing would help.

Re: If you have changed RE's (or have considered it)

Thank you for this topic.

I've been lurking here the past 3-4 months and the thought of changing doctors has been weighing on my mind.

I haven't been happy with the place I go to for sometime now; its a large facility and I feel like a piece of meat being bounced around as fast as possible to make way for the next slab.

Anyway, I was wondering if people could review my treatments and see if there is something my doctor isn't doing that they should be or might help?

Don't ask me hormone levels or results of blood work, they never give me those details they just say everything is fine

Congrats for finding the courage to post here after months of IF treatments. I would recommend starting a new post since you have been through so much already and have a lot to share. There are definitely some things that come to mind regarding your situation. Have you been formally tested for PCOS, are you IR, are you on Metformin? Start your own thread and you will get more responses from other ladies who have PCOS. Best of luck!
