Babysitting dilemma

Does anyone have experience with their child not wanting them to leave when dropping them off at the babysitter in the morning? I am reasonably sure we have a good babysitter for lately my 2 yo daughter has been saying "no" and not wanting me to leave her there. I feel so bad and guilty all day at work. Does anyone else have any experience with this and any suggestions?

Re: Babysitting dilemma

Is she just like this when you drop her off?
Or is she not having a good time when you are gone?

Re: Babysitting dilemma

If you trust your babysitter then ignore the cries and the nos etc. My DD gets like this some mornings and I just tell her good-bye and that I have to go to work and I'll see her later. Then I go to pick her up and she throws a temper tantrum b/c she's having so much fun she doesn't want to go home.

I think they do it to test us.

she's usually having a good time and in a good mood when I pick her up. We moved recently and I am hoping it's just the disorentation and confusion of the new environment that is throwing her off. I feel so guilty for working and not staying home with her! Chat Icon

Re: Babysitting dilemma

I remember when I babysat MANY years ago, one boy wouldn't want his parents to leave. I finally told them one day to just go and call by the time they get to the end of the driveway. The boy was CALM as could be in the 2 minutes it took them. He knew it upset them and it was working. A few times the mom decided to back out of going to things. After that time, they never hesitated again.

Re: Babysitting dilemma

The majority of the time my son trots off happily into nursery because he is quite keen and excited to see his friends, however we do go through phases where he cries everyday and says he doesn't want to go. He is 3 now, and has been at this nursery for 2 years. It comes and goes...

Re: Babysitting dilemma

My dd does this every am, and at my MOTHERS daycare. Chat Icon where she has been going since she was 6wks old.

Been like this for a bit, I leave, 2 min later she is over it. I know this..I call and she is fine.

I think she just knows Im leaving and she dosent want me to go. The older she got, she understood it more.
