Garbage in Nursery

I am not going to get one of those Diaper Genies because everyone I talk to seems to think they aren't worth it or they just never used it That being said if you aren't getting one of the diaper genie or other diaper pails what kind of garbage can did you get for the nursery? I am having such a hard time.

Re: Garbage in Nursery

my bedding set has a cute matching pail for $15, so i stuck it on my registry. I don't plan on using it for diapering trash - only "dry" garbage.

Re: Garbage in Nursery

I plan to get some kind of garbage can that has a top that can sort of seal the can. IMO all garbages stink at one point or another. I take my house garbage out at least every other day so I will just add the nursery garbage in to this routine. Let me see if I can find some pics of what I was thinking...

I did not register nor did I ever want a diaper genie for the nursery. I did not want to have dirty diapers - no matter how air tight they are - in the baby's room. And once Athan started crawling I did not want him touching anything like that. We take all diapers and put them in the little nice smelling disposable plastic bags and toss in the kitchen trash that gets taken out daily. With that said, we didn't have any sort of trash/pail in the nursery - everything goes in those bags (diapers, wipes) and tossed.

Re: Garbage in Nursery

I wasn't going to get one either and decided on a regular diaper pail that they sell at BRU, until everytime I walked into the nursery I smelled his last poopie diaper, so we settled on the Diaper Genie II and love it!

I don't have a garbage pail in DD's nursery. I always just take the diaper downstairs with me and put it in the kitchen garbage when I change her in her room.

That is what I was planning on doing.

Re: Garbage in Nursery

i got a diaper champ (it was delivered today.....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon to one of my girls)....

it takes REGULAR bags - like supermarket bags...so that's why i went with this specific one. If there's something we have MORE than enough of in our house - it's those supermarket bags!

eta: not entirely sure where we'll be leaving the pail...

Re: Garbage in Nursery

i got a steel step on foot pedal can from BJs a while ago. its solid enough closing that you don't smell anything from it so easily. and its big enough to use a large 13 gallon garbage bag (and i buy the ones with the odor shield for the can too) if its a really smelly diaper, i empty the pail shortly afterward, but otherwise it contains oders quite well.

Re: Garbage in Nursery

I personally despise having a garbage can in the bedrooms..I think garbage cans only belong in the bathroom and the kitchen. It just looks messy to me (JMO). I registered for a diaper pail that my SIL has that is sealed etc I figured that I may get some use out of that but I will keep it downstairs not in the bedroom.

i just got the diaper champ at my shower yesterday... i cant see using a regular garbage can because it will leak smells out- and i cant see running outside every time i change a diaper.
