powder formula question

So we're transitioning over to powder....what water do you use? I just boiled some regular tap water and then mixed it with the powder...Is that right??

Re: powder formula question

I don't boil it.... and didn't from day 1. I just use filtered water, nuke it a few secs until it's room temp and use it

I think it's healthy for baby to be exposed to low levels of bacteria from his environment... it stimulates his immune system a bit....

I used tap water.

Tap water is regulated by the government whereas bottled is not

My pediatrician told me that it is recommended to boil the water, so that is what I do. I also run it through a brita.

Re: powder formula question

for those that boil it, do you let it cool before you mix the formula or just mix it and then let it cool???

Re: powder formula question

I just use bottled distilled water. Sometimes if I am out of that, I boil the water, put in in the fridge to cool it then mix the powder.

Re: powder formula question

we buy bottled water/nursery water or gerber water-whatever is on sale.

We keep it at room temp and mix it- we do not give DD warm bottles

We have well water that has so many issues- we would never use it...

Re: powder formula question

We have a Brita Pitcher so we used that when we are home and bottled water when we are out.

Re: powder formula question

We boil bottled water and use it at room temp, or the bottle slightly warmed in hot water.

Re: powder formula question

I always boiled the water and filled up the bottles and left them on the counter to cool. So when you needed a new bottle it would already be room temp and you just drop the powder in, shake and your ready. No heating required.
