I need help finding a Laptop.. PLEASEEE..
Its my Husbands 50th Birthday and he is going to be away the whole month of feb.. His Birthday is feb 15th.. Does anyone know what the best laptop out there is?? In the $1500-2000 range? Since I am not having a party for him I really want to surprise him with this.. Thanks for any help you can give..

this is highly subjective... depends what he's using it for..... and whether he's a mac or PC person....
I'm a PC person all the way. (much more versetile than macs... since most programs are written for PCs, and most computers in the world are PCs) I'll presume he'll want it for a combo of work and entertainment (movies/gaming/photography).
I am very much a loyalist of vaios... from both my experience, and my co-workers, they tend to be more sturdy than HP, gateway, and the others... the only better PC laptop is a lenovo (but they're all well out of your price range anyway!).
To save $$$, get a mid-sized screen... about 15" (smaller and bigger cost more).
Definitely worth the extra $$ are better processors (dual core centrino), graphics cards, and becuase it's so cheap, larger harddrives. don't spend too much extra $ on a larger hard drive, though, since you can always buy an external drive later that connects to the USB.
I bought my vaio online... you can customize them. whatever laptop you buy, you really should pay for the extended warranty. Unlike desktops, laptops get bumped and tugged on regularly.... my warranty just paid for a new mother board and wireless card!
