I feel that unless you join some secret club or have over 36391746291 posts, you're branded a newbie looking for drama.
It isn't the most "friendly" environment for newbies, thats for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if thats the reason people don't post more.
Personally, I never thought that of you. 
However, I do wonder when someone new jumps into controversial threads and acts ballsy. Maybe that's the way some people just are, but I think that most of us test the waters before showing our true colors.

ETA: It's just annoying to be automatically considered a troublemaker or a lurker or drama starter, but no one likes to see the other side of posters. I've been posting on the other boards as well.

No, I'm long time and not a lurker.
Me too. I post a little more than Laurie, but it comes & goes in spurts & read more than I post.
I don't think people would be suspicious of me, b/c I mostly post about tv shows & make-up, but I can see how other people could fall into the same posting sporadically pattern, without evil intent, so I don't judge them.

Well I joined here in April of this year, if you read through the posts, that was who it was directed towards. And yes, I will voice my opinion, regardless of what others think...and I guess that is considered "snarky"

You're entitled to one and so are they. I didn't personally take offense to this thread; I am more annoyed at being labeled and judged because people can't be bothered to get to know me or to respond to what I say because I'm new, KWIM But overall, I haven't really had a bad experience.

I disagree. I think you can respectfullly disagree with people. Also if you're a long time poster, you should know the minute the eyeroll comes out, the post turns to drama.
To answer the question, no I'm not that suspicious of long time posters with few posts.
Since I was introduced to this site by someone who mainly lurks & posts very little, I don't think much about it. Granted, she never posts on drama threads & mainly on parenting or pregnancy to answer a question for someone.
I think if it's a topic that someone feels strongly about (for example, politics) they are going to post on it.
I'm sure there are posters with two screen names that use them during drama (um...Dead Horse, that's you.), but for the most part, I think everyone is on the up & up.

Intellect is intecllect no matter how new you are and insecurity and snark are insecurity and snark no matter how old, new, active, or inactive you are. The overly sarcastic use of many emoticons, including and make many of us cringe and start to think that some posters lack maturity, civility, and sometimes decency.
ETA: on a board with nondescript and non-descriptive names like most of ours, of what use is a "fake" name anyway?

I don 't even really care if people need an "alter" ego to post on drama threads. considering how quick we are to label people, it's a good way of saying what they want to say without being branded as a "whateverthetopicis" for life.

i dont think it's suspicious.. i am a newbie i guess.. I have been a member for a while.. but i don't have a lot of posts by comparison to some other members.. i post in spurts.. i'll spend a week or two on this board every day.. and then i wont' post for 2 months.. i was a some what reg poster on the pregnancy board.. and then i had my baby and stopped posting all together as i adjusted to having the baby... i'm not sure how i wound up here on the NFR board.. but i enjoy some of the political conversation.. so i post sometimes.. and sometimes i just read. but i never take anything on this board that serious..
