Please tell me this is just a stage...

Okay so my son LOVES car rides and going on walks (loves the movement). However, the moment you stop... he screams bloody murder. God forbid you stop at a stop light. Chat Icon

Is this just a stage? why does he do this? How do we fix this?

Is there something that vibrates that we can stick under his a*s in the carseat??? Chat Icon

Yes, my DD did this at about 2.5-3 months old, for a good 3 weeks. Then she just stopped one day!

Mine started doing it around 4 months and come to think of it, he doesn't anymore. I'm not sure when that stopped, maybe around 6 months?
Instead he has this bored sounding whine he does over and over. If he had words he would be saying "Are we there yet?" But much better than the crying!

My DD did this too, but it did stop. If I had to guess, I would say it got better around 3 months!

The vibration is what is relaxing him.
Def sounds like a stage.

Re: Please tell me this is just a stage...

It's a stage that may last many months! My DD hated the infant carrier and car rides for a few months, then distraction worked SOMETIMES...but not always. I remember dreading coming up to a red lights because she would start screaming.

DS is only 5 weeks old but is the same way...even worse. When I accelerate he hates it even more...so I just listen to the screaming. Sometimes jingling my car keys makes him stop temporarily. For stroller walks I just lay him down flat on his back on a blanket...he hates the infant carrier that much!

I think this happens to a lot of babies. My DD hated redlights and so did mommy. The one day she just got out of that. Dont remember what age she outgrew it.

Ahhhh, the red lights...Yes, it's a stage. Actually, this was when I realized that Billy Joel would put her to sleep! We STILL haven't stopped listening to it! Chat Icon

Re: Please tell me this is just a stage...

DD is 3 mths and used to scream when the car would stop but she hasn't done that in a few weeks. She seems to enjoy the car even if she doesn't fall asleep. So , yes I'd say it's a stage! Chat Icon

DD is almost 3 months and STILL does this at lights...it's starting to stop a little but she still does it, especially if she is tired. I hope it stops soon for all of us!

See he loves going for walks! I put him in the car seat and in the snap and go and he's happy... when you're moving! Chat Icon

UI don't want to tell you this... but it isn't a stage. My sons are 7 and 5 and they still scream when they aren't in perpetual motion...

We really did have a similar challenge with Robbie when he was a baby. He outgrew it around the time that he started to be able to roll over.

So there's some hope??? Chat Icon

I mean of all things to complain about, it isn't that bad. But it's amazing how quick they are. I mean i literally stop for 1 second and he could have been asleep prior and he just knows and will wake up crying. Chat Icon

OMG...Rylan does this too...when he's cranky. I hate driving on Horseblock Road because of it. Sometimes i'll reach back and shake the carseat...lol.
