I worked in the Radiology department of a hospital during college.

Did you just get the transcription from the radiologist? That will tell you what was found in the images but it won't tell you what type of therapy you need. You will have to consult your doctor for that.

Re: Anyone understand MRI lingo?

I broke my shoulder last year. I did have an MRI. I went to the Dr. a few days later where he explained everything.

Re: Anyone understand MRI lingo?

I get MRI reports and have to read them for my work. However, I sometimes call a doctor with questions.

I can help ... there should be a section that says "findings" or "impressions" sometimes just "summary" what does that say?

I used to have to read reports for my old job. I could try to help - but the best person to ask to describe it to you in laymans terms is your Dr.

Re: Anyone understand MRI lingo?

There is evidence of bone bruising at the level of the subtalar joint involving the posterior subtalar joint. There is edema at the level of the sinus tarsi.

There is evidence of a small osteochondral region of injury involving the posterior aspect of the talus. This is seen only on sagittal images and the small region of osteochondral defect measures 5mm.

The patient has thickening of the anterior talofibular ligament, compatible with a chronic ankle sprain. The patient also has edema at the level of the distal fibula.

Thanks to all that have responded...

Have you discussed these results with your doctor? Has your doctor seen the films? I think maybe they can tell if the edema is recent or has been there. I would want to know what is causing a chronic ankle sprain and what can be done about that.
