We we saw the heartbeat, I was 8 weeks based on my LMP, but  was only measuring 7 weeks. I thought I ovulated 1 week late so that made sense. The tech said that when it's early on, the accuracy of the measurements is +/- 4 days. Don't worry if the doctor said you were a few days behind. At my most recent sono (around 13 weeks), was measuring a week ahead.
ETA: The doctor is probably saying you are 5 weeks based on the sono measurements. That is a more accurate estimation than basing it on your LMP.
Glad everything went well.

Congrats!! I know how exciting it is. DH and I just had our sono this week and i was 5w3d. PIcs are in my album. STay positive!! It is so hard i keep thinking the worst as well but everything is gonna be fine for us all.

by your next sonogram, you won't believe how big the fetus gets!!
we were shocked! it grows fast! one day its a tiny blip on the screen and by the next week, it's HELLO BABY!

oh okay! so you may be a little more ahead of 5 weeks or you may have o'd late - you will probably know much more next time!!!

SO glad your appointment went well! Congrats!
It probably will feel a little surreal for you, it still does for me and at my 13 week ultrasound the baby was kicking/punching and moving around like crazy...I still cannot believe it! 
Good luck with everything and have a happy, healthy 9 months!
