Re: What foods should my 9 month old be eating?

DS is 9 months and he eats:

cereal
sweet potatoes
carrots
peas
pears
apples
butternut squash
bananas

I make all his baby food. At his 9 month visit, my ped said we can give him meats, cheese, yogurt, bread (start some finger foods), puffs.

That's where we are for now!

DS also eats these things and we also make his food. He also has had:
Turkey
Chicken
Beef (just started this today)
Apricots
Kiwi
Yellow Squash
Zucchini
Watermelon
Yogurt
Prunes

I'm sure I'm forgetting something...Anyway, after the beef the next few things I want to add are:
Cottage Cheese
Eggs (yolks)
Broccoli

I want to try finger foods like puffs but i don't know where to start and am nervous about it! We tried to give him bigger pieces of watermelon (still so tiny though like minced) and he gagged and spit up Chat Icon

I'm SO GLAD you posted this because I feel so clueless about feeding DS! I know by one they should be eating table foods with us and he just seems so far from this! I feel like I haven't gotten much guidance from the ped but, i guess this isn't really dr. stuff - just common sense - but not for me Chat Icon

I feel totally clueless when it comes to mealtimes. DD is a gerber baby, but I want to start giving her more table food. When I went for her 8 month visit I was told to add meat and then when she turns 9 months I could start yogurt and some pastina. Am I still supposed to keep giving 6 tablespoons of cereal a day? How much yogurt is OK to give and if she likes it can I give it to her everyday?

Don't feel bad! I am convinced it all depends on the parent! At our last ped visit, she told us that there are some babies who are still eating just pureed baby food at 12 months, and there are others who are eating all kinds of finger foods.

Sounds like your DS is eating all kinds of things!!! Chat Icon
