Baby's sex?
is it true that the baby's sex is completely determined from only the man and not the woman?

Yes, it's totally determined by the man. If they give their "Y" chromosome to the baby, it's a boy.

yes it's the sperm that will bring a Y.
However, doesn't the women's "environment" (fluids/acidity) help determine which ones have a better chance of making it to the egg?

i don't think the enviroment has anything to do with it, but i have heard that "girl" sperm are stronger swimmers than "boy" sperm, so if you have sex closer to your O time, you are more likely to have a girl b/c they will get there first. if you have sex a day or two before you O, you have better chances (but are NOT more likely) to have a boy, simply because the extra time gives them a chance to get to where the egg will be.

Females have two X chromosomes - XX
Males have one X and Y chromosomes - XY
So, when egg and sperm come together each contributes only ONE of these chromosomes. Since the woman had two X chromosomes, all she can give is an X. Now for the man, he can give either an X or a Y since he has both.
If he gives an X, the baby will be a girl. (Man's X combined with woman's X = XX)
If he has a Y, they baby will be a boy. (Man's Y combined with woman's X = XY)
Does this make sense?
