I was a scheduled c because of 2 prior back surgeries. I'll have another c with our next baby.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I have rods in my back so I knew I would have to have one. Then I developed toxemia and it was moved up from the original date.

Yes I will need to have another one with our next children.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My 1st was an "emergency". Was induced, labored for 15 hours, got to 9cm. and my doctor decided that I was stuck at 9 and scared us into a c/s. My 2nd was a VBAC attempt, he flipped around during labor though, got all tangled, and started having dangerous decels. My 3rd was scheduled.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

Water broke @ 9 am which was meconium filled.

Got to the hospital at 11 am and they hooked me up to the fetal monitor and heart rate monitor, and K was under a little bit of stress and also the contractions weren't coming through properly. I was only contracting on the bottom of my uterus - not the top so she wasn't coming down properly.

By 7 pm, I was only dilated between 3-4 cm, and she wasn't progressing. The doctor came to me and said that we could either do the C/S or I could continue to go on laboring.

I told them whatever was in her best interest and she was born @ 7:52.

I'm not sure tho if I would have to have a C/S the next time.... I never asked.... Chat Icon

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had a complete previa and DS & I would have died without a c-section. I most likely would have to get another one in the even we try for another baby, since the risk of a second previa increases with a previous previa and a previous c-section. Honestly this is a big reason why we are on the fence about TTC again.Chat Icon

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had a terrible reaction to the epidural and was in terrible pain around the base of my neck. I couldn't concentrate on pushing. After the C-section I found out she was sunny-side-up anyway, so I probably would have ended up having a C-section despite my epidural complications.

I never went passed 7-71/2 cm after being in labor for about 23 hours. She failed to descend and turned face up. She was also 9lbs 4 ozs and they were concerned about shoulder dystocia.

I will have a c-section again for #2 when the time comes. I'm not comfortable with VBAC after my experience with my last job.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had twins via c-section because one twin was stressed they did not want me to try a vaginal birth. I am done having children so no I will not be having another c-section

I couldn't get past 6cm, he was in distress and at one moment, my heartrate dropped to almost nothing.

The Dr told me that most likely the next time I would have one.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

Ryan was measuring at almost 10 lbs and I was a week late with no progress... he never would have fit through (I am a small girl with no hips) so they did a c-sect.

I did not even think about doing a VBAC with Erin. I think the risks are too high for complications and I really had no desire to do it either. I don't even think my doctors would have gone for that anyway.

My recovery with Erin was a breeze. Night and day compared to Ryan. I was walking around that day and generally felt great.

DS was breech. He was supposed to be a scheduled c-section but my water broke and I delivered him 2 days before the scheduled c-section.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

i was induced, labored for 22 hours stayed at 6 cm dilated and didn't progress fast enough (my water had broken and it had meconium in it) 12 hours earlier so my dr said we had to get the baby out... so i had a c section. i'm hoping for a VBAC for the next one.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

With my first it was simply that he was too big. My doctor came in after I had been in the hospital laboring for almost a full 24 hours. I was fully dilated and my body was starting to push - but the doctor told me to stop pushing because the babies head would rip my cervix. I had an emergency C-section.

With my 2nd, I REALLY wanted to try natural birth - but 2 things prevented it. 1. He was already measuring big and the doctor didn't want me to go through the whole labor process if I wouldnt' be able to deliver vaginally anyway. 2. I was laid off from my job and my insurance coverage ended August 1st. The baby was due July 30th and I needed to schedule to make sure that he would be born before the insurance ended.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

your #2 sounds like me.
I got labored for like 30 hours, got to 10cm, pushed for 3 hours and they told me I could push for another 3 days and he was not gonna come out:)
Later tehy told me my pelvis was just too small and I will have to have future sections.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

I had 2 bc both babies were breech. My first was a vbirth, #2 was a c/s due to breech and had hoped for a VBAC with #3. I was told by my OB that I was a very good candidate for a VBAC based on my vbirth and reasons for my first c/s, as well as the fact that I went into labor on my own each time and I delivered a 9 lb+ baby in my vbirth. But #3 was also a breech. I'm not sure if that's uncommon or not but it was what it was. My understanding -based on my OB - that uterine rupture is fairly uncommon in a VBAC if the other variables are in the favor of the patient.

Re: Girls that had C-sections...

My water broke on a Monday at 5:30am. I did nothing for 24 hours. Finally at 8am the NEXT DAY they gave me a vaginal pill which started contractions and then IV pitocin. I never went past 4cm dilated so they did a C-section and DS was born Tuesday at 10:26pm. Those were the longest days of my life and I forgot to mention I had the PUPPS rash which made it ten times worse for me.
