whats so true how am i hiding...truth is that is my real screen name in every thing i do on the internet and i just posted on here for the first time yesterday...after reading all the posts back and forth...thought if i said what i said about a different screen name it would..i dont know what i who cares i am me...i just heaRD of a puppy mill yesterday...i got my dog from a breeder this time of year a year ago...it had giardia...i just wanted to support moms 3 because you people are a bunch of i think i know everything people...lets have lunch...how bout applebees in bellmore?

That is the double edged sword. Pet stores use strong tactics to get the window shopper to fall in love with that puppy and then all you want to do it take that puppy home. Until there are no pet stores, this will always be the sticking point.
I just hope that we, as consumers, learn what we can about the products that we buy so we know what we are getting.
I also hope that everyone on this board knows that one person can make a difference...Abe Lincoln did, Rosa Parks did, etc.

I don't agree with posting under a fake name...you have an opinion...stand behind it. Using a fake name nullifies a lot of what you say just because it's a fake name.
In regard to your statement "IF SHE DONT BUY THEM SOMEONE ELSE WILL....GET REAL PLEEZE " may be right in one sense but if you apply basic laws of economics...as demand goes down, supply lessens. Not buying a puppy by one person does affect the demand thus affecting the supply. Each puppy bought means 6 more will have to be born to replace that "inventory". So one person choosing not to buy one puppy means 6 puppies (a litter usually) will not be born.
Keep in mind that Ted Bundy was a nice looking man, who held a job and seemed to be an upstanding member of the community yet he was a sociopath. Pictures on the internet and what a pet store owner might say don't prove the puppy isn't from a puppymill or backyard breeder. A way to check, factually, is to request the papers for the the parents. The AKC keeps excellent records on linage of all registered dogs. Other organizations that produce papers are usually created by the puppymill owners themselves so that they don't have to prove linage or make sure that 1st and 2nd generation dogs are breeding with their siblings.
OK, seriously this is what I'm looking for, help in finding out about this specific puppy! So what should I do, ask the pet store if they have papers on the parents?
I just found a website called petshoppuppies.organd they will give you a free report on the breeder. It will include inspections of the facility, and other info.

Yes i am great friend..you'll never know...and theres your know it all tactics working again...u dont KNOW me at all so u have no right speaking a word personally about me...and i am a great friend for sticking up for moms3 thats what best friend do...u probably dont have one of those!! thats a presumption btw not something im stating as a fact...i hope she gets that puppy i saw it i played with it...it will make a great addition to her family...this is my last post i have better things to do with my time i dont regret sticking up for my friend...but i regret having had any chat with most of you cheerios! yesterday was my first time here now is my last..

I wasn't going to respond to this thread any more since I felt I had given all the info I possibly could to help the person who wanted to buy the puppy understand that the dog comes from a mill.
But, even though it may get lost in the shuffle, I want to say a few things.
To the person who came on here and said they bought their dog from a breeder and it was extremely sick - if you bought from a Responsible Breeder they never would have allowed the dog to leave their home sick and if it got sick afterwards any responsible breeder would have offered to take the puppy back or help pay for it's medical care.
For the person who said that we who speak against puppy mills and pet stores aren't willing to be educated - you are dead wrong there. Almost everyone of us has bought a dog at pet store Not Knowing The Truth and learned afterwards (due to sick dogs or inability to register dogs) what goes on with pet stores and puppy mills. It is an industry - nothing more than that...and if you choose to support this industry, the puppy mills will continue to thrive.
The person who wants to buy this puppy was given numerous sources citing THE PET COMPANY in particular as a puppy mill supporter and chooses to ignore them. There is no more that any of us can do at this point.
There is a topic posted at the top of this board regarding buying at a pet store...this has been brought on by YEARS of research by many people...not by one person asking the manager of a pet store and a vet a couple questions..
So, my last statement on this topic is - if you choose to buy your dog at The Pet Company I wish you luck...but know that you are supporting the puppy mill industry.

actually the drama happened way before she came on and tried to back me up, it was when someone commented that some people refuse to be educated(refering to me). That is when I had to come on and speak my mind because that is when I was attacked rather then helped! Thank you to my best friend for sticking up for me, that is what any true friend would do! And thank you for the people who actually tried to help me not attack me or try to make me feel stupid!

Go to the part that says "Free puppy report."
I would tell them you are thinking about purchasing a puppy and want to know if the breeder is legit.
This is the info they will provide, if they have it.
USDA licensing information. Name, business name, address.
USDA inspections are annual (usually) inspections by the Dept. of Agriculture that check to see that the breeder or broker are in compliance with the minimum standards of the Animal Welfare Act.
USDA inventories are the number of animals (puppies and adult dogs) present on the premises during an inspection.
AKC revocations and suspensions.
Media reports, such as any newspaper articles we might have on the breeder, broker or pet store.
Dog auction reports
Other customer reports are available when other puppies from the same breeder, broker, and/or pet store are sold to customers that fill out a puppy report. We currently have approximately 6000 reports in our database and as that number grows, we hope to provide more detailed information about the origin of your puppy. For example, if you bought a Golden Retriever that originated at a Missouri breeder's farm, we may have a report from another customer that shows medical problems that you might watch out for, such as hip displaysia or epilepsy. These reports will also show a history of selling puppies with parasites, kennel cough, puppies that are much too large for the breed standard, or don't look anything like a purebred. Because of privacy issues, we do not disclose information regarding other pet shop customers. Often times people want to contact other pet shop customers, but unfortunately, we are extremely overworked and underpaid (we are all volunteers) and we simply can not take the time to notify other customers.
