Help! My dog was killed by neighbor's Dog
My little Maltese was brutally killed by our neighbors dog 2 weeks ago. We are going to small claims court shortly. Any legal help would be greatly appreciated. I am suing for loss of dog, vet bills, and whatever else I can get. Our neighbors do not want to accept responsibility.

I am so very sorry. All you can sue for is the cost of the dog, any vet bills you incurred and any other costs with regard to the attack. Unfortunately, you can't sue for pain and suffering because dogs are considered property, which, really, annoys me. Your neighbors need to step up and grow up. They could, also, benefit from a good smack.

Sorry to say but this is true. Dogs are considered property (ticks me off, but they are ). Did the ASPCA get involved? Is there any record of the attack? Was there negligence? Is there a possibility of the negligent behaviour being repeated?
I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Hi everyone.. thank you. so much for your messages. I had Buddy for 12 years.. married 4 and I have a 3 yr old boy and an 8 mo old girl.
My Mom and I miss him terribly. Our neighbors dog isn't the problem.. Our neighbors are... we asked them to repair their fence for months and they wouldn't do it.. too cheap I guess. Buddy was taking a stroll in our yard when our neighbors dog ripped down a portion of the wood fence..grabbed Buddy by the neck and then pulled him back throguh to the neighbors side. We lost him ours later at the hosp. My neighbors are horrible people. We went to court last week to deem it a dangerous dog.. of course I couldn't see the dog be put to sleep so I accepted a compromise and my neighbor offered to put up an additional chain link fence so the dog wont bite through.. even after all that he still won't pay for the dog and the vet bill. I am regretting my decision. We go to small claims court soon. Hopefully the judge will make him pay for this..

WE PUT OUR HOUSE ON THE MARKET 2 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE WE DIDN'T WANT TO LIVE NEXT DOOR TO THEM ANYMORE.. WE ARE JUST UPSET WE DIDN'T GET OUT BEFORE THIS HAPPENED.
