Hotels in Venice can range quite a bit...
Are you looking for nice and reasonably priced- or more upscale?
We stayed at Loconda Vivaldi and enjoyed it. It was a small hotel, but beautiful. Reasonably priced- nice location near St. Mark's Square and on the Grand Canal.
Friends stayed at Hotel Daniellii and lvoed it- much more expensive though.

I stayed in the Hotel Principe....right by the train station a little ways from St. Marks. We loved it...were right on the canal and happy we didn't have to go far with our luggage!
