We have floors!!! Can now share some work in progress pics...
We bought this house October 2006. The first major project was converting from oil to gas - that took time, and that took $$$$. Since that project, DH & his Dad have been gutting the first floor since (the walls basically needed to be resupported throughout and we took down a wall to make what was their master bedroom, our dining room). Previous owners had wallpaper throughout the first floor (3 layers I might add) and carpet. Under the carpet - industrial tile, under that the concrete slab - so DH had to rip up carpet, grind up tile and fill in the concrete to even it out before we could do flooring! Since the house is built on a slab and has radiant heat - we had to go with the engineered hardwood.

There was a rotted window on the side in the DR. DH got rid of the old one, replaced it and centered it in the room (this is obviously before):
Now it's our dining room (still need to do wainscoting now that the floor is down). Molding will go around the entry way.

After gas conversion, we added a gas fireplace
We also added all the high hats- they had no overhead lighting!

Master bedroom had floors from the old Wantagh post office which we thought was cool. We just had to have them refinished.
Before:
Don't you like their window treatment and paint color? 
After searching for a bed that "fit the slope":
Not that big of a room, and awkward - but we plan to dormer the other side of the house so got decent sized furniture and did the best we could with the space

DH painted the bow windows white. Before (replacing sheetrock):
Finally we unwrapped our new couch! I plan to replace the pillows that came with it with red accent pillows to pick up the DR color

You did a great job renovating everything! I am in love with that fireplace I also have radiant heat but we didn't convert to gas yet. I think a lot of the houses in Wantagh Woods had radiant heat originally. It's so nice to think that if I convert to gas I can have a fireplace too.

Wow you guys did an amazing job - sound like when I ripped up the carpet in the house we bought....we found 3 layers of tile and asbestos before hitting the cement slab.....

Your place looks great! DH is doing most of the work? It's good that he's handy--what you are having done would be so pricey otherwise.

thank you - the bedroom is BM Barely Beige. I kind of wish I picked something a little more dramatic - the bedroom is very "vanilla"
