I know of two places that has very reasonable rates for Clown and Characters for youre party.
1- Children Entertainment 718-843-9875
2-Just Kids Entertainment 718-470-9600
I just booked the first compant for my DD 1st Bday and they were very nice, accomdetating, If you call him tell him
(Austin) that I recommened you (Christine from 96th Street )

Twinkletown.net. I few of us moms have used them for our kids bday parties. The clowns are cute young girls and they do face painting and balloon sculpting. Great company!!!

We had a really great couple in their late 50's come to my daughter's 1st. They were called Mr. and Mrs. Paddy Cake and they came from Massapequa. They did magic tricks, games, balloon animals, face painting, etc. They were very reasonable and the kids (and adults) loved them. I'm going to try and find the number and post it for you. It's been awhile.
