sleeping in cosleeper

My son is 71/2 weeks old. he used to sleep in his cosleeper at night, but only agter he slept on our chest from about 8:30 bottle till he was hungry, around12 or 1am. now he won't even sleep in it at all.
He will only sleep at night if he is on my chest. If I put him in te cosleeper next to my bed he fusses for a while and then cries. M DOC SAID NOT TO LET HIM CRY!!!

HELP!!!!!

Re: sleeping in cosleeper

I had the same exact problem...I held my son for 8 months. He only napped on my chest, he did sleep in the co-sleeper, but I had to let him fall asleep on me and then put him down in the cosleeper asleep...

I don't have any advice except that it will sort itself out eventually, just let him fall asleep on you and then try putting him down, or try co-sleeping in your bed. Thats what happened to us, we co-slept and that worked well for us (but not for my husband who slept in the guest bedroom for 4 months!!!)

Don't let him cry at 7.5 weeks...just do whatever he wants! I promise you, it will get better!!

Re: sleeping in cosleeper

We used to do the same thing you are doing now - let him fall asleep on us and then put him down in his co-sleeper. My DS is 20 months old and still "needs" contact with someone to fall asleep. Try to find a different way for DS to fall asleep. Maybe try swaddling him.

I'm expecting #2 next month and we are going to try to put this baby down while it's still wake so it doesn't get used to sleeping on us.

Good Luck!

Re: sleeping in cosleeper

I just wanted to post again to say..ENJOY IT!! The other day my big one year old boy fell asleep in my arms and I was utterly delighted!!! It felt absolutely dreamy and I loved looking down at his scrunched up face...his rosebud lips, his pink cheeks and that line that his eyelashes make on his cheeks when his eyes are closed. I wish I could bottle that feeling so that when he is a big beautiful hairy man I could feel him as a baby again!!!

OMG...I am verklempt!
