Ummm, NO.
I do not like the Mets. I am not a fan of the METS, and I would rather see another team win, other than the Mets.
Why is it people think you have to root for New York team just because you are from New York?
If the Islanders ever made the Stanley Cup, I wouldn't root for them. I am not a Giants fan, and I certainly do not root for the Knicks.

I dunno that you have to root for the Mets per say...
I am a NYer and i root for the Yankees
I also root for the Jets, Islanders and Rangers
I do show loyalty to the NY teams .....just not every one of them

Gee, that's what I had to hear about the Yankees from 2001 (ESPECIALLY 2001) until last year.

I echo those sentiments, if you replace "Mets" with "Yankees" 
No need to root for NY teams just b/c you're from NY. DH is a Miami Dolphins fan, and he was born and raised on LI..go figure!

I guess I am a "more loyal to the team" kinda gal. If my team isn't playing, I do not care who wins. I have never been a Met fan. I just do not like the team.

I'm a Mets fan but if they didnt make it to the playoffs and the Yankees did - I'd want them to win - I like rooting for the NY teams.

My team is out...
and if it were not for the DH (a Met fan) i don't think i would even be keeping tabs on the games..
But i just can't see myself being a fan of a team that is not NY..
especially since i am home grown..
SO IF i am going to be a fan....it will be of a NY team
(college teams IMO do not count)

On a related DH/Detroit note, DH is a Detroit Lions fan because their games were always on during Thanksgiving and he loved their helmets.

My dad is...
His story is that when he was a kid in Brooklyn, the Tigers were the only team to beat the Dodgers, so he followed them...
So I grew up a a Detroit fan...
It was tough to take the Yankee abuse as a kid

I'm a Yankees fan, but I'm not a Mets hater. Considering that the Yankees sucked it up in the post season, I have no problem with the Mets winning it all. Do I want to go to a game... not really. Would you ever catch me in a Mets jersey... Hell no.
