Year-round school? Yes or no?

MY DS is in a SN preschool for speech delay. I think they will offer us the option of continuing through the summer in school, or getting speech at home during the summer.

Re: Year-round school? Yes or no?

I personally like the idea of school year round in general.

I think it's good for the socialization piece and making friends.

It also gives them something to look forward to IMO.

I also think that in terms of therapy, it can be helpful with it being provided when the child is in the environment with other kids.

Absolutely taker it! This will help avoid possible regression. I'm sure like my school spots will fill up quickly so reserve as soon as you can.

Definately take it. I felt bad at first sending her year round but she does get off 2weeks before the 4th of July and 2 weeks before fall school year starts. I think it's good for socialization and definately keeps them in a routine; therefore making September so much easier. She gets out early enough that we do stuff and we take her out for a few days to do day things. It's really not that bad

My nephew has speech delays and went through the summer. He made such great progress and they wanted it to continue. And he liked being there.

Definitely take it! DS has been going year round. It's great for socialization and regression.
Just over Christmas break, his speech is off a bit. The 6 weeks in the summer definitely helps.
The summer program is all maintenance and it helps tremendously.

DS did better in the summer program actually when he first stared. It's called the ESY program (extended school year)
The school day is longer bc it's 6 weeks and more relaxed. They get a lot of outside playtime and still learn play, socialize, etc.

Take it. I think it helps them tremendously, there is less regression when they are kept in a year round routine.
