I have my HSG tomorrow (nervous!) and was wondering why both myself and my DH had to take antibiotics the day before? Dr. office said because bacteria can be passed back and forth, even though they told me to BDing until after ward. We don't have cooties ! LOL

My doctor also gave me antibiotics to take before my hsg. From what I understand its just an extra measure so you dont get an infection from the procedure. Nothing to be alarmed about.

Thanks! Not so much alarmed, but just still don't understand why DH had to take them. It's no biggie, we do whatever we have to do, but I just didn't understand why.

Hmmmmm I'm thinking maybe its because if you DO get an infection from the procedure - the doctor was concerned about maybe it being passed to your husband during BD'ing....know what I mean?
Other than that I'm not really sure. I would ask the doctor. I'm curious what they'd say.

We both took them this morning anyhow. He was kinda glad because he had a toothache and possibly a sinus infection! So he figured he'd feel better!

I just came back from the RE, and they told me to start taking the antibiotics before the procedure.

Good luck today, Maria! Just take something 1-2 hours before you go it (can't remember if it's tylenol or advil). This will help to ease any possible discomfort that you may have.

I took them as well. DH did not though. They are to ensure that you do not get an infection from the procedure.
