I dont think you can.. i always felt when you closed the whole the silver part gets all funkie and ruined and sometimes wrips.

Yes, you can and I have. I used two balloons (a stork and a baby bottle) that were brought to the hospital and used them 3 months later at dd's baby naming. Perfectly fine.
