XP from diet & fitness-Strange rapid weight gain all of a sudden
I am very confused and upset because I have been gaining weight at a rate which makes no sense to me. Here are the facts:
I gave birth 6 months ago and a week after I had lost all of my baby weight except 8lbs ( then 127). About a month later I started taking medication for PPD. Two months PP I noticed I gained an additional 3 lbs (then 130)while all along eating healthy and exercising and doing all of the right things. I was chatting online with several women who had weight gain as a side effect of Zoloft. I stopped taking it 4 months PP. Now, I am at 6 months PP (no medication) weighed myself Tuesday up 3 lbs (then 133). I weighed myself today, up 2 MORE LBS! (now 135) I don't get it?!!!
I'm 99.99% sure I am NOT PREGNANT. Even when I was pregnant I didn't gain weight like this.
I have always kept a food journal and especially do now since I am not able to workout like I used to.
I thought maybe it was my scale but it works for DH. What gives? I am very frustrated. I made an appointment with my primary for a full physical and blood workup.
Any insight?

I would look up the PPD medication that you are on and see if it has any sideeffects that may be making you gain weight.
I also think that getting a physical is a good idea.
What do you do in terms of working out? are you lifting weights? could it be muscle weight?

Maybe when you get to the dr. you can ask about your thyroids?
My mother started gaining weight like that (here and there) and turns out she had an underactive thyroid.

I stopped taking it two months ago because of the possibilty of weight gain as a side effect. I am lifting weights but not heavy enough to be gaining so much muscle mass. I will see what my blood workup states. I've been afraid to get back on the scale since last week.

Are you on any type of BC? I have the Mirena IUD and I have not been able to lose weight at all. While there are other factors to me not losing weight  , I often think of the BC side effects...

I'm on triphasil which I've been on for like 12 years. It's ONLY birth control I've ever been on. I don't think that's it though.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? They may be to blame if they are off. It wouldn't hurt to see your primary doctor and get everything checked out to see what is to blame.
My thyroid was underactive after delivering DS, so I need to take mediication for it.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Post partum thyroiditis isn't unusual - I had it - my Endo told me that they hypothyroid stage can also lead to PPD - so if you already have PPD could your thyroid also be out of wack?

Have a thyroid panel done. Many woman after having children can develop pp thyroidism.

When I had adrenal burnout, I gained 30 lbs for no reason - my body shut down from stress, working out too much and not eating enough! It was the weirdest and most frustrating thing.
I had to stop working out and actually eat more! It took almost a year for my body to get back to normal - you should look into that!!!

Could it simply be age and your metabolism slowing down as a reult of the baby?
For someone that thin , to me 7-8 lbs is not that rapid of a gain. If it were 15+ lbs I would think somethings up.
But your right to get thyroid checked out. Childbirth typically messes with it, and looks like its a likely culprit based on your description.

See, I think the opposite - if you are thin, then 7-8 lbs can be pretty significant - for me - that is an entire clothing size or 2 - if I gain or lose that much weight, it is very noticeable - on someone bigger, its not as noticeable... My stepmom is over 220 lbs. When she loses 10 lbs, it is not that noticeable....
