I love Direct TV. We almost never lose the signal, it has to be a really bad storm. We lose Optimum Online more often.

Re: X Post: Direct TV???

We do I am the proud owner of the Sunday Direct Ticket going on 3 years nowChat Icon It does lose signal is horrible rain storms-lots of rain and wind. Besides for that its great. We love it and now we are "preier customers" so we are getting a free upgraded box so now we will have two and can record 4 shows at a time if we wanted to.

Melijane - How are you premier customers? We have had it for 2 years now.

We love it and have the Sunday ticket as well (main reason for getting it ewhen we moved)
We've lost signal only a handful of times in 2 years. I LOVE the Tivo option - don't know how I lived without it.

We have it and love it!

Dh is an Eagles Fan living in Florida where if the Saints or Falcons are playing he needs Sunday Ticket to see McNabb play like a fool every sunday.

We've never had the signal go out for more then a few seconds so I can't complain about that. Also after hurricanes pass thru our part of Florida our DirectTV works with the generator as long as the dish is still up, while it takes weeks for cable to get back up

Re: X Post: Direct TV???

Thanks for all the responses... How do you become a premier customer?

Also: What is the monthly fee for the DVR service... I'm contemplating purchasing my own TiVo box.

When you call they actually say that I have had it for about 4 yrs now that Ithink about it. What happened was my DH was on the phone and they said you are eligible for a free box upgrade with free installation. Then they got disconnected and he didn't call back. So I called and sai my hudsband was on the phone and was offered .... The guy sounded like it was not noted but he honored it anyway. Maybe call and try the same thing?

Re: X Post: Direct TV???

I had it a few years ago and during the snow it would always go out, I remember being outside in the middle of winter with the hose watering off the snow on the satellite because I was not going to spend all night doing nothing. Cable stinks also but the prices are better with the DVR and the HD channels.

It's $6, I think for the DVR service, it is much cheaper than Tivo and it's a better service, easier on screen to use.

Re: X Post: Direct TV???

We were really happy with DirecTV however we switched last year to the Optimum Triple Play and ended up saving a lot of money.

We never had any problems with DirecTV, even in storms, we seemed to be ok.

We do lose signal with Optimum once in awhile.

Re: X Post: Direct TV???

I've had Optimum Online for years now. I had one or two problems which both turned out to be hardware related. I have all of their services, cable, phone and internet. No complains.

If I recall, DirectTV was more expensive and prone to problems due to the weather. Whenever a disc is necessary there's a potential for problems.

Anyone who experiences problems regularly with Optimum Online either has bad cables, hardware or transmitter in your area. You should talk to your neighbors to see if they experience outages when you do.
