WWYD sick child and childcare

Ok so tomorrow is my 1st day back at work and I have to be there.

Well Ds has come down with a cold and isn't feeling to well. HE also had a low grade temp over the weekend.

So me and DH both want to do different things with him tomorrow. I already have mind made up but want to see if maybe I am just being bias.

Ok senerio #1

One of our mothers would come to our house and watch DS. One of isnt 100% comfortable with her watching him, bc she hasnt cared for a child in over 30 years, let alone a sick child. Alos has called us several times b4 when watching him for a few hours. But if DS needs to go to the dr.s it would be much more easier for us to get to him.

Ok senerio #2

One of our sisters would take ds, but would be watching him at her house. One of us perfers him to be there bc she has a toddler in the home, and knows what she is doing. But if DS had to go the to the dr's, she is about 15 minutes out of the way.

I would choose 1.

Also because I don't know that I'd want a toddler a. getting sick from the baby or b. getting MORE germs from the toddler

Me too. I'd also rather he was in his own house where he is more comfortable and where he's more likely to nap.

If your DH can't take off (that would be my first pick Chat Icon ) I would go with whomever you feel more comfortable with - but know that as worried as you are , your mom/his mom will probably be fine with DS - esp. at his age. Chat Icon

I think it's better to keep him in his own home when he's sick. I'm sure it will come all come back to the mother who is watching him.

tough call. I would go with your gut and have him with whoever you felt more comfortable with (regardless of the 15 min time difference).

Last week was my first week back to work and DD was sick. DH took off the 1st day, I took off day #2. Not ideal, but we worked it out. I hope your DS feels better Chat Icon

15 minutes is not that far away, in my opinion - the peace of mind would be worth it. Not sure how old your DC is but I don't think it would make a difference to my son if he were at his own house or with family when he was sick.

Re: WWYD sick child and childcare

I say option number one. As much as it's annoying to hear, both mothers DID raise a child, or more than one. They are not completely inexperiencedChat Icon And if I were you, I would tell the mother to call as much as she needs to feel comfortable.

It's just one day. Leave instructions and go to work without worry.Chat Icon
