WWYD? Shower gift related.
My in-laws live OOS and are not coming to the shower. I am 90% sure the shower is in March. Invites went out weeks ago, stuff is flying off the registry and my Mom and Aunt took the old people to Babies R Us yesterday
So, the first of, I'm sure a few gifts from the in-laws arrived at my house today.
Do I open it, call them and then send a thank you?
Do I wait for the shower in a few weeks and have my Mom bring it with her and open it there?
ETA: THis particular gift is not wrapped, MIL already told me what it is... and the gift is pictured on the box. It's a carseat and it says the brand and has pictures all over the box.

I would open them. I had stuff for my bridal shower delivered to me daily from non-attendees and I opened them all!

seriously - you can get one or two done now - it's less you have to do when you're completely overwhelmed!

seriously - you can get one or two done now - it's less you have to do when you're completely overwhelmed!
Completely agree. But I would save the box and wranp it so other people can ohh and ahh at the shower if that is not to much of a PITA.

I would open them, there's no sense in lugging them to the shower and then back home again to you. Are these people that will be at the shower? If so, you can thank them in person then send them a thank you after the shower.

I would open it, call and thank them and make an announcement at the shower thanking them for the carseat. The guests aren't going to mind if they see you open it or not. We did this with our furniture and just passed around the picture for those who actually did want to see it.
Wrapping it and hauling it to the shower location may be a PITA for your family - you may want to ask those loading and unloading your geat if they care

I would call to let them know it arrived and see if they say "Did you take it out and look at it???"
We will most likely have a lot of the big items shipped directly to us since the folks getting them for me are OOT. I don't know if I plan on opening the boxes (not sure why I would need to if they come early) but I am DEFINITELY NOT wrapping myself and lugging to my shower ...
