WWYD re.: babysitter

My DH found a back-up babysitter to our regular babysitter for when we go out. We haven't used her yet, actually we haven't met but she seems really nice on the phone. She is a certified teacher, CPR trained and was a nanny for 7 years before becoming a teacher.
So I called her yesterday to see if she was availble this Saturday. She said she is but might need to bring her 1 year old son. I told her that is fine and that I would set up the pack-n-play incase she can get him to sleep.
Now, that I have slept on it, I am thinking it may not be a good idea and not because of my kids but for her son. Here are my reason and tell me if I am crazy Chat Icon
1.) She wouldn't be able to put my 2 down for bed because where would her son be
2.) My house is not baby proofed (never really was except for 2 baby gates). My kids now have little toys and I worry that he might put something in his mouth
3.) my living room is actually on middle floor so their are 3 stair ways (2 to go down and 1 to go up). I worry that he might get all over the place and she won't be able to relax because it is new to him.
4.) Our fire place hearth is the length of the wall and all brick. I don't have any protection on it.

Am I being crazy. I know she is going to watch after her son but, I just worry incase my kids get up for reason where is her son going to be and I don't want him to get hurt.

What do you guys think?

I don't think you are crazy at all!! TBH, if this babysitter is not a family member doing you a favor, and is getting paid for her services, then she should not be bringing her 1 year old to work with her. If she worked in an office would she bring him? She is being hired to have her focus on your kids, solely. God forbid something goes wrong, you bet your asss that she is tending to her kid first.

Our babysitter brought her 2yr old over

BUT

she is a family friend and I only have one DD

If it was someone I didn't know well, plus there are already 2 kids to watch, I wouldn't be that comfortable.

Re: WWYD re.: babysitter

honestly, I would give her a try and see how it goes.

I babysit for my SIL 1x a month. She has 3 kids and I have my DS. So all day I have 4 kids (well depending on school, practic and playdate schedules) I then feed them, bathe (sometimes) and get them to bed if Dad is late from work.

I have managed to get 3 of the 4 sleeping (minus my 9 yo nephew). My SILs house is not child proofed but luckily my DS is pretty good with "rules".

She was a nanny for 7 years she may have watched numerous kids and its not that big a deal for her.

I say give it a try.

I'll see what DH thinks.

I did mention about getting them to bed and that we would play it ear. She did babysit for a family that had 2 sets of twins, ages 1 & 4 and .

Re: WWYD re.: babysitter

Your concerns are valid, however, if she feels that she can handle it, and she was a nanny for so long, I would give her a trial run. Call to check in and have a nice night out!
